Allen's Neck

Allen's Neck is part of the Allen's Pond Wildlife Sanctuary. This mid-April, the place was singing with birds.

Although, most were at a distance photographically speaking, the quietness of the area fused with birds singing their little hearts proved to be a wonderful place to be.

No special birds to speak of, but lots of Northen Cardinals and Blue Birds. 

It was a nice walk.

Clyde The Rhino

I was checking the dates when Southwick's Zoo would be open for the season when I came across the sad news about Clyde the Rhino. Although, I am a few months behind on this news. See references for more info.

Dry Spell

The last few times I went out on excusions, well, they have not been so good as far as birds are concerned. In addtion to the herring running, I wanted to catch the gulls and herons trying to catch the fish.

Although the herring are still running but in increasing deminised numbers, my target birds were no where to be found. :(

Walkabout On Gooseberry

A trip to Gooseberry Island to check out the birds.

The birds were sparse with a highlight of White-winged Scoters (WWSC) (Melanitta fusca) at the most southernly point of the island. A small flock of Dunlin Sandpipers and the usual gull suspects. Although there was a pair of good looking Great Black backed Gulls sitting on the causeway. I slowed to try and photograph them but they had that look of "I'll fly away" so I continued on.

The gulls were especially skittish which affected the Dunlins who flew away at the slightest motion of the gulls.

The tide was at the lowest I have seen it. The rocks at the south point of the island one could walk to without getting wet. Usually, one was to wade out there.

Cecropia Moth & More

One of many uploads to the photo store included this Cecropia Moth (Hyalophora cecropia). A few more butterflies like a flower bending due to the weight of a butterfly and a Terracotta Fish in the shoebox section.

I also opened an account at deviantArt. I'm not sure how I'll use this but for now, a few uploads.
